Nope, just like outside of work I always screw myself over by not taking advantage of any situation that is not the "right" thing to do.

I don't have any "friends" or family at work so no. And even if I did I wouldn't admit it in an open forum.

You would have to be more specific... I don't even know how this can apply to a typical white collar job.

Sounds more like retail-esque jobs of allowing family to cut in lines, giving them discounts, etc...

Break rules? Like flushing paper towels down the toilet? Or not washing my hands after using the bathroom?

They make stuff for commercial kitchens where I work, so I don't exactly have relatives breaking down my door for free samples.

I'd imagine that it's different experience for people who work at Best Buy, though.

We repair and replace HVAC systems where I work. I could very easily disappear some parts or even entire systems and give them to people or sell them, but I will dutifully have them thrown in the trash per company policy.

I'm not perfect by any means, and I can be an a-hole, but I'm with you. I have a very hard time outright screwing other people over for my own gains.

I'm actually doing my company's online anti-corruption training and saw this thread. So to those who might be monitoring network traffic ... obviously I would never be corrupt at work ...

Too late. You're playing on social media while at work.

Nope, it usually catches up with you. I don't want to be ashamed of who I am or feel guilty because I screwed someone over. My self-respect is more valuable that whatever small gains might be made.

It's called morals, dignity, and setting high standards for yourself. It's a damn shame there aren't more like us.

Even though IT has a huge possibility for corruption I rarely find that there is an issue with people in the field. Mostly nice guys who just want to do their job. Maybe it's just the area I'm in.

I would think most IT people wouldn't do corrupting actions because they aren't stupid enough to not understand system logs and such. Just about anything can be tied back to you methinks.

I work for a small family firm. If I do anything that steals from the company, it hurts my friends and the owners (who are two fantastic and caring people).
