I honestly don't see why so many people grow up resenting their families and never talking to the people who raised them for 18 years and usually supported them for much longer than that. Dad is always going to be my dad, Mom is always going to be my mom, and I've got four little brothers who I really wish I could be around more often. I haven't been home for longer than a week for almost a year now (college student) and I do miss them a lot.

Not saying I agree with everything they ever did or said to me, but I know they always did their best for me, and I refuse to believe that's the exception and not the rule.

you work for pwc?

I don't know what that is, so I'm assuming that answers your question :)

I'm self-employed.

haha ok, Price Waterhouse Coopers, they are the only consulting firm that I know of that expects their employees to do at least 80% traveling, the others, i think, expect around 60%. This is for network security btw, not accounting.

Well, I am working on a very large project for a very large accounting firm if that makes any difference :)

I don't know if I could ever go back to being an employee. Freedom lost once gained could be painful.

I actually would like to get into consulting, but I don't think I would personally do it for the rest of my life, just use it as something to get started with after college. I hope to one day settle down, marry, and have some kids, haha, i'm thinking too far ahead aren't i?

you sound like a hard worker, congrats on your success!

I consider myself close to my family, but if I were in your situation, there's no way I'd go through that kind of trouble.

my sister and I talk all the time (several times a day), but I can't remember the last time I actually saw her (despite the fact that she only lives 10 minutes away). I make a point of seeing both my parents at least once a week (I probably talk to my mom 2-3 times/week, but she calls me), but when I was in college, 3 hours away and without a car, I only saw them during summers and holidays.

I love my family, but at the same time, it's not like there's some hole in my life if I go awhile without actually "seeing" them.

It's not as though there's a hole/void in my life when in their absence either; however, I think most people have an emotional ground state, and mine is with my family around. I simply enjoy their company, and I want to be around them as much as I would any of my better friends.

I find it's always the little things that I enjoy so much: Going to a coffee shop and just sitting around talking/reading, going to a restaurant, or even just taking a walk around my neighborhood. I guess I feel that with all the chaos that seems necessary if one chooses to pursue opportunities in life it's nice to return to that which is mostly unwaivering in support.

We're pretty close. I see my dad and sisters weekly. And my nieces and nephews love me. :)

I don't think that's possible. I'm not a person who really sets plans with the expectation of everything being in accordance with it; however, having a general set of accomplishments that you wish to achieve can never hurt no matter how far ahead their realization might be, imo.

you sound like a hard worker, congrats on your success!

Much appreciated!
