Why or why not?

I am, couldn't really think of a reason not to be when I got my license years ago... I never think about it though, but I just read an article about it and was wondering how many people are. Anyone know the national statistics? I looked but couldn't find any.

Absolutely... I don't need 'em once I die, and if they can help even one person live one more day then it's worth it.

I'm sort of surprised that more people aren't.

By the way, make CERTAIN that your family knows your wishes. That sticker on your drivers' license means NOTHING if your family members say otherwise.

I am. Why try to keep something I won't ever need again? I'm suprised that the number isn't upwards of 90% but I'd guess 50% or so.

yah. donate my blood every 8 weeks too.

Like whoever stated above, make sure your family knows you want your organs donated.

This thread actualy reminds me: I need to speak to my parents about me being an organ donor. I don't need my organs once I'm gone, why can't somebody else have them to help them live?

I'm going to start donating blood once I'm of legal age

Legal age? What's legal age? I started donating when I was in high school...

When I was younger (read: more immature) I didn't like the idea of my body being "chopped up". Now, I'm like just about everyone else in this thread. I figure that someone will need them when I'm gone. I won't. I've been through so many medical problems in my lifetime, why not help someone in my death? JMO

Yup, sure am. I don't plan on going anytime soon, since I am still young, but still good practice if I depart earlier.

Yep, here in Brazil, everyone is an organ donor, unless stated otherwise in their National ID.

Yes, all internal organs...just not eyes and skin. Main reason for that is I don't want to look too messed up in the coffin at the funeral.

Why would someone's family say no? I've never talked to my family about it, but even they're not that stupid to against my wishes, are they? Okay well maybe they are... why is that a law anyway? Why isn't the person's decision final?

And no one has given a reason for saying no yet... :/

That little sticker on my driver's license says so, but like was said, that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Mebbe I should talk to my parents.

I told them I wanted to be, and signed the form, but they didn't put it on my license, so I guess until I renew, I am not.
