Are you an Organ Donor?

Are you an organ donor, as indicated on your driver's license? My driver's license was last updated and issued to me three years ago. At that time, I indicated that I would like to be a donor. But three years later, my feelings towards organ donation have changed. Next time I update my license for any reason, I am indicated that I would not like to be a donor anymore. This is because of several reasons. It may be selfish on my part, but I would like to die with my organs, and unless a loved one or close friend is in need of an organ, Id rather not donate. Second, I have heard many rumors that just scare me where if you were to get into life threatening accident, the doctors would make less of an effort to save you or help you if you're a donor because they want to get those organs to people who have a better chance of survival. I also had a friend who died in a car accident a few years ago, and one of the things I remembered from being in the hospital was the doctors pressuring and asking the family for them to sign off on the organ donation, all while my friend was still alive. Now, he was really brain dead and he had been on life support at this point for a few days, but it still didnt seem right.

Don't think I will ever do it unless its of desperate measures.

in anywayz, I wouldn't want someone to inherit what I did to my own organs..
hmm

Yep, on my license as well.

I do it because I'd hope that if I ever needed an organ I would be able to receive one, and I hope that if I die someone will benefit from mine.

It's hard to see why someone wouldn't be an organ donor to me though I respect that personal choice.. just doesn't really make much sense to me.

I don't see anythign wrong with doing it; I'm not a religious tard afterall. I tell you though... people who get MY organs are going to be *real freaking lucky!*.

Though this isn't the reason I do not want to be a donor anymore, many people refuse to register as a donor because of religous beliefs.

I am, although I'm kind of paranoid about receiving a lower quality of care if I am ever involved in an accident if the doctors think they have a shot at my organs.

I don't really have a preference. I think I will make it so my wife has the final decision with what to do with my body.

That reminds me of a funny story back when they had paper licenses. I thought it would be cool to write genitals on the donor line. Well one day I got pulled over by a cop you should seen his face when he read that lol. :) He was laughing so fvcking hard he forgot to give me a ticket ;)

Hahaha, they let you write that on the donor card? When I updated my license three years ago and I registered as a donor, I wasnt given the option the designate certain organs.

Donor. They can have anything they want when I'm dead.

Just cremate my remains and throw them in the wind.

Of course I am. I really can't think of any good reason not to be, but whatever makes your boat float.

i used to not care either, but i do not want to take up space in a grave somewhere. i am being realistic in knowing that i would not want my family to visit a grave of a decaying body, but instead, remember me though photos and the like. This way, i feel i am a part of the earth instead of wasting more space lying in it.

 I agree. And isn't it much cheaper to be cremated than it is to be buried. I mean, the casket alone I've heard can cost around $10K. I wouldn't want to put my loved ones through that financial situation.
