Never had any allergies till I was about 18 or 20 when I discovered I had developed a serious allergy to cats. Stayed at an aunts house for a week, she had 4 cats, by the end of that week I was wheezing and breathing very shallowly. Was also clawing my eyeballs out and scratching my skin all over. Recently I went to get an allergy test and found that I'm technically also allergic to dust mites and possibly pollen though I've never actually had an outbreak of any reaction to those even during the height of spring and in very dusty environments. I wonder if it would be possible to desensitize myself to cats? Would probably kill the evil fuckers before my system got used to them anyway though.

What if anything are you allergic to?

Shit, should have made the poll multiple selection, can a MOD change that for me? Thanks is so!

I had tons of allergies growing up, including cats. Over the years I just said fuck it and acted as if I didn't have them. They have pretty much went away now 🙂 only in the summer when the pollen gets really bad will i start to sneeze and cough.

Lots of things. But hay and grass are the biggest ones (A bad thing for someone living on a farm.)

I'm not seriously allergic to anything that I know of. I just itch all over and wheeze.

Pollen. It can get pretty crippling at times. I need to get back on the routine of taking one pill every day for the stuff, everyday, no matter what time of the year.

Wish it was that easy for me. I don't take anything for my allergies, yet they still bother me. (I've only ever taken something when they have been really bad.)

Did you own a cat? Otherwise I don't see how you could have had enough contact to desensitize your body. My cat allergy is bad enough that like I said my air way constricts and I develop hives, itchy watery eyes and just can't stop sneezing.

First of all, your poll should be a check-box poll, not a radio poll. (edit - oh, you already realized this)

I have very mild allargies to cats and some late summer stuff, I forget what exactly. I also have this cool thing where if I take advil/ibuprofen and have even the smallest allergic reaction (like imperceptible), it explodes into a full-blown can't breathe type thing. But not bad enough for epinephrine, apparently.

I take zyrtec and flonase daily to manage, since I do have a cat. Never bothers me.

Poll is fail, I can only select one thing.

I'm allergic to basically everything inhaled. Dust, pollen...all that crap. My eyes are constantly bloodshot from it.

It's not uncommon at all for childhood allergies to just go away. Also not uncommon for them to develop later, as mine did. 🙁

Yuch that must suck. I feel sorry for people like you, met people like that. Must be miserable.

glutamic acid, it's an amino acid that my body absolutely cannot process or tolerate the presence of.

common places of naturally highly occuring glutamic acid:
tomatoes
mushrooms
parmesan cheese
fish sauce
anything with msg

I am allergic to pollen and from the Cottonwood tree. None of the medications works. If I force myself not to scratch my eyes(which is very difficult) I get over the allergy pretty quickly.

Possibly studying, I always get headaches and get so tired. 🙁

But other then that not really sure, most likely cats and some weeds.
Definitely not mold given how much black mold I've had in my dorm room though.
Would need to get tested to really know for sure, but that sounds painful. 🙁

Its not so bad. If I take Zyrtec D I'm pretty good. Work always sucks because they have the stupid open ceilings with the exposed rafters.

The crappy part is now I'm going to have to get an RX from my doctor for it to be covered under flex. I already figured in $30/month or $360/year for it. Kind of sucks that I have to spend another $80 to go see my doctor just to get my allergy meds when nothing prescription helps.

Might be easier to list what I'm not allergic to.

The tip of the iceberg includes cat dander, dust mites, grass pollens, tree pollens, molds, mildew, perfumes, cigarette smoke, aspirin, sulfa drugs, penicillin, and the killer: canola oil.

I own two cats.

Fuck. The world must look like a mine field to you. What happens with Canola oil? Basically means you can't eat out I imagine. Not many places would even understand what you were talking about if you told them you were allergic to canola oil.
