Research biologists on Anandtech? Hmm they probably have enough money not to have to shop the hot deals forums. =)

LOL divinemartyr - Research Biologists do not make near enough money. They actually make very little compared to chemists and other researchers. I am doing my grad research in bio now - when I grad I can hope to make maybe 35-40k w/ a masters. A little more with a Phd depending on the job.

jedimastr, I found that out as well. I went to my friend's place and she had two cats. One is really shy and one is really calm. After being introduced to the laser, the shy cat seemed no longer shy and the calm cat seemed really hyper. They go nuts! They try swiping at it, pouncing on it, etc. I love it!

By the way, this is a repost. I'm surprised that Biowire is STILL giving these away. Please don't take advantage of this, unless you really are a research biologist. They say they may check now because so many people deceived them, so beware. :D:p

Hey divinemartyr, I resemble that remark ;). And I've been checking Hot Deals almost daily for over a year! Jackhammer isn't kidding about the earning potential deal (or lack thereof). The only reason to become a research biologist is because you enjoy it.

BTW, if you are a biologist (especially molecular biology) you should check out the Jellyfish software on the site...it's not too bad for free.

They also often advertise decent vendor deals.

Furthermore just because one has a high income or a large net worth does not mean that they don't cruise the bargain bins looking for a deal.

I have a good friend with a net worth north of $7mil who loves cruising for deals and scams. Live for a good 2fer or bucks off deal.

Not cheap, just loves the hunt.

Enuf $$ not to look for hot deals, eh. Couldn't be more wrong with that assumption. My wife and myself, (Ph.D.) biomedical researchers (postdoctoral research fellows to be exact) barely make $1k per year of education currently (should change soon we hope), so the hot deals forum has been a boon to my hardware habit/addiction.
