i enjoy going to the dump, it reminds me of when i used to go to church, i loathed the time there, but always somehow felt much better on my way out.

When no one else wants to talk about your shit, I guess you're forced to talk to yourself about it.

You know what I haven't had in a while? Taffy.

Rookie. For a yr I was hauling 6 to 8 loads of 105,000lbs each of garbage 6 days a week in Idaho. I hate the garbage dump now.

i never knew of a time you didnt have to pay for trash removal.

I'm confused. Why are you paying to get rid of your trash. You already pay taxes to the city/county whatever for the service.

Most places you pay for trash with your water bill.

Are you paying to deliver your own trash?

Thankfully, the garbage company comes every Wednesday morning and takes care of that for me. (the lazy bastards still make me move the trash cans to the curb though!)
Twas a time...we lived in the middle of nowhere in central Idaho, and we had to haul our trash to the county dump. Never cared for that chore, but, whatcha gonna do?
Every couple of years, I'll have a load of crap that I have to haul to the dump. About $20 for a pick-up full.

What in God's name were you doing to generate 2,000 tons of trash a week?

Nope, a lot of suburbs have dumps/recycling centers.

No matter what, everyone is part time garbage man and pays for it.

Taking garbage to the curb and paying for a private company to take it or the city/town thru your real estate taxes

Taking garbage to the dump and still paying for it thru your real estate taxes or having to buy a permit.

And for each of the above, some folks have to buy stickers or special garbage bags from the city/town

Well that really isn't comparable to the OP then, is it? Unless the dump was making him pay, I suppose...

they sell those bags at the xfer station, or you can just go over the scale.
i played in the dump as a child, back when there were good bike frames and they hoarded all sort of old appliances/furniture...it was like a treasure hunt.
i pulled a mongoose out of the dump..back in the cru jones days.
they had pumpkins and mammoth sunflowers growing there, there were always a few regulars
as a teen i worked up the transfer station.
i like the dump.

Is that a semi load? I can't imagine a regular garbage truck could be that heavy.

one time in the winter i let the back of my f-150 fill up with bags.
it had a locking cap...perfect portable dumpster.
i brought up 15 of those heavy duty 100 gallon bags(3-4 kitchen bags in each)
boy those sunzabitches were heavy and frozen.

When I was growing up we used to burn our garbage. We lived in the middle of no where. Ah the days when no one cared about global warming.

Heck I remember the golden days of pouring motor oil down the near by street sewer.
