I'm a pack rat and I'm trying to reform myself. My mom is terrible for keep EVERYTHING... old magazine, etc. and I totally got it from her. I used to keep everything.

Well, I'm starting to go through my house and I've throw away so much stuff lately it's amazing. Some of it is perfectly useful stuff, but I don't need/want it. I'm going through a box of my old toys/crap from my desk when I was a kid. It's got all kinds of stuff in it and I'm debating on what to throw away and what to keep. Most of it isn't replaceable... and had memory attached. But, those memory aren't something I think anyone else but myself would be remember. Frankly, I could care less for this stuff at this point.

What do you guys think? Do you throw away stuff that you KNOW you'll never use again? Even if it was part of your childhood? I suppose my mom would take it, but she's got enough crap.

I guess, I'm just asking... do you keep the stuff that reminded you of your childhood even though you don't have a use for it? Should I just box it all back up and stick it in my closet for another 10 years? What's the point?

Yeah.

I need money, so I've been liquidating my rat-pack on eBay though.

I used to be a pack rat. Then I started to throw things away based on whims. As long as I don't dwell on it, then I'll be fine.

I threw away two years worth earlier this year.... I now throw them away after reading them once. :Q

I do indeed tend to keep most of my old stuff. Don't really know why considering I'd never be able to find what I wanted even if I was looking for something...

Ain't that the truth!!
I just bought AAA batteries for my Palm, and then found an 8-pack in a bottom desk drawer, cleverly concealed under a year old Boating magazine.

I have clothes older than 99% of the people on this board.

I can't bring myself to toss out anything. And in the rare occasion I DO, two days later I need it! ;)

Oh yeah- I was a pack rat in a way b/c I just threw everything that I didn't have a place for into a garbage bag - so now that I have 2-3 garbage bags worth of stuff to sift though - my new shredder is working great! :D
