It takes me a good ten seconds of sucking air through my nose to get a full breath. Hence I use my mouth. ;-)

if I can, I breathe through my nose. But half of the time, my sinus and allergies are giving me problems so I have to breathe through my mouth.

My nose usually doens't provide enough air to my lungs unless I'm just laying or sitting around. Or if I'm walking slow, but anything else, I usually breathe through my mouth.

That's about how it is for me, too. I'd rather breathe through my mouth than be loopy and/or have bloody nose all the time from the allergy meds they keep trying to give me.

I just hate it when people who have the same problems still persistently try to breathe through their nose. Starts to get annoying when you hear that loud breathing.

I breathe exclusively though my nose. When I was little, I used to use my mouth because it was easier, but then I read that your nose filters air while your mouth doesn't, and since then I conditioned myself to use my nose. I don't remember how easy it was to adjust, but now it's very natural for me and my nose is big enough to supply sufficient oxygen (unlike apparently some other posters).
Trying to breathe through my mouth, it seems that air is somehow "unclean" -- I know it's not true, but the knowledgte that it's not filtered at all is not very comforting.

I know that a lot of people have their lips partly open for breathing, but because I always breathe through my nose, my lips are always sealed (unless I am talking, of course.)

Most of the time, especially when in public, I breathe through my nose.

I HATE it when people insist on breathing through their mouth while eating. Chomp chomp *opens mouth and takes big breath while showing off mouthful of food* chomp chomp SNIIIIIFFFFFFFFF chomp...:frown:

Good question. Unless my heartrate is above 81 for more than 2 1/2 minutes I breath threw my nose.

Most of the time, no. Through my nose. Unless I'm doing some sort of physical activity or sleeping. My mouth always ends up open when I'm sleeping. I guess I just can't get enough air through my nose when I'm sleeping or something.

I can relate to your thought process. Actually I really do think it's unclean air because if I'm forced to breathe through my mouth for whatever reason, I usually get a sore throat or something to the effect. Then again, breathing hard through my mouth while playing sports doesn't cause this.

BTW, I heard that we eat at least 2 spiders in our lifetime in our sleep. I keep my mouth SHUT when I don't use it to eat, breathe, or talk. Then again, my mouth starts to stink after a while and morning breath is terrible. Anyone else have this problem? It's normal right? Besides brushing and gum, how the hell else do you keep your breath fresh ?

this question is as silly as...

which foot do you start your walk with?

:)

*wrong* the correct answer is... who gives a damm?

After having tonsils/adnoids/wisdom teeth removed, yes I can breathe through my nose. Before I was a mouth breather.
