I like Darius' voice a lot myself. While I like all his stuff, I really like some of the later, more bluegrass influenced stuff that he was doing with Nanci Griffith.

I got to see him do a roundtable discussion last year with some other songwriters. They would converse for a few minutes and then take turns playing acoustic songs either that they wrote or that influenced them. I think he played a cut or two of the new album. Also in the discussion was Shawn Colvin, Indigo Girls, one of the girls from Heart, and another artist or two. It was a live TV show on Turner South so that made the show a little more interesting since I had never been to a live taping or broadcast.

Thanks for the link.

He's got a cool voice but I always had trouble deciphering what he was saying in his songs, he slurs his words together when he sings.

Their first record was a nice commercial success. My favorite song on it was "Goodbye".. Number 11 if I remember correctly.

OMG Hootie is coming out with a new album? Oh, it's just Darius by himself. That's still cool though. Does anyone else think "Wild One" sounds kind of R&B-ish?

Hootie used to be awesome. Their first album was one of the best. I remembered listening to every song in that album so many times. Their records after that kinda sucked. They're still good though. I saw them in concert (first row seats:D) a couple of years back and they rocked

Hootie rocks ass. So all you haters run! :D :)

Seriously, they're great. I've got every album and will definitely purchase Ruckers' first solo effort. His voice is phenomenal.

"I Go Blind" is a great tune that never got enough attention.

Hootie fan? Nah!

I only have their albums from Cracked Rear View to Scattered, Smothered and Covered. Also, I have Mark Bryan's 30 On The Rail and their Summer at the Camps video.

;)

Nah, they just weren't up to the level of whitebread greatness that was Huey Lewis & the News ;)

Seriously, too bland for me -- give me Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Sarah McLachlan or Elvis Costello, i.e. most any flavor of rock except cookie-cutter corporate rock.
