My friend is having a hard time getting enough donations to meet her fundraising goal of $2,100 and I volunteered to help raise as much as possible before the actual event walk that takes place from Oct 14-16 in San Diego, CA.
Any help is appreciated from my fellow ATOT friends
Thanks!
What is the Breast Cancer 3-Day?
The San Diego 3-Day will showcase all the beauty that San Diego has to offer - gorgeous beaches, breath-taking vistas, beautiful plant life, and eclectic neighborhoods. The journey will begin in North County at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The route will move south, showcasing the beach communities of Torrey Pines, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Point Loma, Mission Bay Park and Sunset Cliffs. The terrain will range from sidewalks, bike paths, and oceanfront boardwalks. There will be a number of large hills incorporated in this year?s route, so please train accordingly. Towards the end of the journey, you will tour the Historic Old Town neighborhood, as well as the urban areas of Mission Hills, Hillcrest, and the Gas Lamp - finishing in beautiful Balboa Park. Please note that the exact route is still being finalized and subject to change. Developing the ideal course that will provide for a safe and scenic weekend is a long process, involving the cooperation of many jurisdictions.
Who benefits?
Eighty-five percent of the net proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Day benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation ? a global catalyst in the fight against breast cancer. The Komen Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Goodman Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan Goodman Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36.
Fifteen percent of the net proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Day benefit the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, a special field of interest fund that will provide support for breast cancer initiatives including research, treatment, prevention and education. The NPT Breast Cancer Fund is an endowment, which will ensure that the cause receives long-term, continuing support irrespective of gifting activities in years to come.
