Are we wasting our lives by spending so much time online?

How hungry are you?

Well listen man, that creature at the top of the food chain is in your driveway. It?s in your neighborhood, your office, your town. It?s everywhere. It?s called time?and no matter how much you try, you can?t avoid it. It will get you eventually.

It's a good article. How many hours a week do you think that Trump spends online? How many hours a week does Bill Gates spend on gaming? The answer to both of those answers is probably a big fat zero! While we sit on our asses, the movers and shakers of this great country are out there making history!

I remain confident that while I have pissed my life away, I have better hair than either.

lol. The point of the article is that we have become very complacent. Instead of telling ourselves that we're going to do this or that on another day we should do it NOW! Tomorrow may never come.

We have a full generation of people that spend way too much time playing video games and browsing the internet. So what's happening is life is passing these people by and that scares me. I was spending about 40 hours a week gaming. That's insane so today I gave all of my PC games to my buddy to hold for me.

Good for thoes guys, but I'm not obsessed with making money.

I spent more than enough time entertaining myself and participating in life.

Just because we'd do something differently under different conditions doesn't mean we're wasting our lives by spending it as we are under our current conditions.

I wonder how many hours people spend on MMORPG's? Most have to average 40+ hours a week. Am I correct or not?

My problem is that I can't think of anything that I want to do or actually worth doing. Burying myself in online gaming allows me to zone out and forget for the moment the existential dilemma. Not saying it's a good thing, but :shrug;

nah. a person doesn't really need to make any massive commitment if they just want to log in and enjoy the game every couple days.

I probably log about ~14 hours/week into World of Warcraft, but mostly playing when there's nothing else to do (by the time I get home from work at 1 am, nearly everyone I know is already asleep, so it's a toss up between watch tv or play WoW before going to sleep).

I agree with the article to an extent. Keep in mind that Trump, Gates, and others like them are workaholics that enjoy their work. They're getting enjoyment from working. Most of us see work as a means to satisfying the need for money. Balance is necessary for a healthy life. Going to extremes (extreme workaholic or extreme gaming addiction) is not healthy either way.

...which is why i'm amazed with those here (ATOT) with tens of thousands of posts... i couldn't imagine posting on here 20, 30 or 40 times a day... you really should get a f*cking life... cause one day, the clock's gonna stop. there's so much more out there (in the REAL world).

and they wonder why in their YAGTs why these chicks dump them; they have 0 social skills, are often obsessed with computer games and gadgets, have an unrealistic view of what a real woman looks and acts like...

i think it's kind of sad.

hahahah.

do not equate post count to anything more than post count. PPD is a reflection of just how much spare time some users have. it's all good.

i know what a real woman looks like, etc etc. LOL

Yes. No. Maybe. I don't know.

It doesn't make any difference. You will die eventually and nobody will care.

While we sit on our asses...

There's are BILLIONS of people all over the world, in Africa, China, India... who would give their left nut to "sit on their asses..." like we do. I never take that for granted for one second!

And there are BILLIONS of people in other countries that would love to have the opportunites that we have as well. Those people come to America and they make something of themselves.

I finally got over 10posts per day this year, been working out of my house for myself.

I guess if having a great job, great gf, plenty of friends and a great family is sad, so be it.

"Something" like a 9-5 job, where they come home from work, eat dinner, and "sit on their asses..." happily I might add!
