If not, we're damn close.

(From Reddit)

Soylent Green 50 years later

Has anyone else noticed that Soylent Green is now here - 50 years after the making of Soylent Green in 1973? A nightmarish futuristic fantasy starring Heston and Edward G. Robinson, a world where big corpa controls everything, cost of living has exploded, homelessness is rampant, and only the wealthy can afford luxury items like red meat or strawberries?

That is part of what baffles me with these billionaires. Dont they understand that if they tank the ship there will be no society for them to exist in either?

I would say it's because though rich in the outer world where wealth buys you pleasure and power in the inner world where self love offers the real joy of being they are profoundly impoverished and that inner emptiness gets projected outwardly on the world in which they see it as essentially empty of value. Stuck with only the superficials that money can buy they feel that life is empty. Why car about a world that has no meaning, no real joy, empty of purpose. All there is for them is to suck while they can.

Why care? Because it's all there is. What do you have when nothing's left?

Not sure what you intend with this post. I was trying to give my answer to cytg111’s bafflement as to why the rich don’t care about retaining those they parasitically DRAIN of all life, why they don’t care.

TO CARE, as you say, is all there is because to care is to love, something that self haters are incapable of. But I don’t know exactly what to make of your ‘what do we have left” question as my view on that transcends everyday understanding. It was precisely at the point that I had lost everything of meaning and truth to me, FROM the pit of black hopelessness, that I had an experience no words can explain or replicate for your understanding AS ACTUAL experience. t was only when all was lost that I could see what I could not see before, what I was when everything else was taken. What is left and these are just words not the thing itself was the joy of being. WEseek what is always with us and can’t be lost BUT can be hidden by tons of bullshit.

They think they can thread the needle between corpo-fascist feudalism and complete societal collapse. It's neat.

I think I was reminded of an old Twilight Zone episode.. "One more Pallbearer"

What's the point in living if there's nothing to live for?
