I'm waitting for the possibly the last generation to the dual layer DVD's that will be able to write up to x16 on the 2nd Layer (DL), and have the ability to write in "RW" and not just "R". Cause I know its comming out, all you have to do is wait .... Cause my HD is getting full and some of the file are too big for just CD.

The problem isn't so much the technology, it's the media that's holding things back. 8x+ burners have been out for a long time, and it's still tough to find qualified media. (Although some 4x media burns 8x no problem) We'll might see 16x RW burners in the future, but I can't see the required media being ready for a long time.

I am not 100% that my info is correct, but to the best of my knowledge, DVD+DL RWs will not be coming out.
Apparently they could be burned, but very few players would be able to read them.
And as for 16x DL RWs, that certainly will not be happening.

AFAIK, 4x is the max the regular DVD-/+RWs can burn, so even if they were able to make DL RWs, they wouldn't be able to burn that fast.
