Throughout history we labeled each era by what kind've material was used during the time (stone age, bronze age, iron age etc.). Are we still discovering new metals (such as aluminum) today to further our advancement in technology? If our era was labeled by a material, what would it be?

AFAIK, we're still in the iron age, but

Carbon composites/buckeyballs as a building material would be my guess at the next generation.
