Are we looking at a pivotal turning point in the race for the White House?

Directly after the convention bounce, Romney's foot-in-mouth Libya remarks mark a terrible time for the candidate to make such a gaff.

We're seeing fire from across the political spectrum universally panning him for speaking without knowing the facts, and jumping the gun when it comes to criticism of current presidential policies. At the same time, Obama has elevated himself above the fray, providing a calm and level-headed example of how a president should act in the face of an international crisis.

Are we at a pivotal point in the race where we will see Romney's support base start to diminish? Do you think this will alienate voters who were already on the fence about him?

We saw a similar trajectory in 2008 when McCain decided to temporarily suspend his campaign in the wake of the economic collapse - a time where he set a terrible leadership example for a presidential candidate. This marked a huge downturn for the McCain campaign, with negative momentum he was never able to recover from. Is Romney now in a similar position?

Romney is just continuing to prove his foreign relations ability is less than that of a Sacha Baron Cohen character.

That was Romney's finest hour as he perfectly described Obama's failure. Great remarks and really hit it out of the park.

LOL at obama being above, he's out fundraising during a crisis.

You need to remember your history of Carter, as Obama is doing the exact same thing. Didn't turn out well for carter and will simply repeat on hussein.

Obama made the statement that they will locate and punish the offenders.

People will expect that this will happen for both Libya and Egypt.

Given that the host security forces cooperated in both attacks; it will be interesting to see what line Obama toes.

In egypt; they are supposed to protect the exterior of the embassy - photos show nothing of the sort until a day later.

In Libya, security forces pointed to where the US Ambassador was presently.

Whether both were deliberate breaches of security of lapses; one will have to see after investigations are complete.

If deliberate, were they officially sanctioned? Egypt, I expect was due to the fact that SoS pulled everyone out. It was known that those vent would be happening and no one step forward to stop or intercept it from the host.

As long as nothing is visible, Romney will hammer at Obama for not doing anything about it.

I wouldn't mind to occasionally live in the fantasy world that you're obviously in. The real world can be too sane sometimes.

Listen to Romney's leadership, that was pure ownage. And now as more embassy's are attacked because of obama appologizing for America and how we deserved to be attacked it will only make him look worse.

Repeating Carter is exactly what he's doing, hammer him on it daily Romney.

Keep telling yourself there were parallels - you forget that the Republicans had a candidate with spine back then. Romney has no intestinal fortitude and a backbone made out of jello.

I think the OP is correct. This may be a mini-version of the economic crisis and the 2008 campaign, where McCain made blunder after blunder in an area he admittedly had little knowledge in. Romney so far has fit Obama's description of "shoot first, aim later" to a T. I'm especially appalled at his blatant manipulation of the facts (repeatedly claimining the Embassy statement came after the Eygpt riots, when it has been clearly shown the statement was hours earlier. That may play to his political base but it won't work in the real world.

First England, then Israel now this. Romney gives all the appearance of a bull in china shop on the world stage.

Romney has clearly demonstrated he just doesn't have the Presidential timber inside him. Those like Spidey can think what they want, but objectively it is inescapable that so far Romney's handling of this crisis makes even GWB seem like a Mensa in comparison.

I sure don't want Romney answering the phone in a 3:00AM crisis, that's for sure.

Yes, we are seeing an important moment in this election. During this crisis, the President and this Administration is apologizing for our freedoms. "We the People" see this and will get rid of this Fool we have now and elect a real leader.

Romney wins with 320 Electoral College votes.

At noon, 20 JAN 2013 the healing begins with a new Administration.

In related news Ryan declares unemployment, a bad economy, high gas prices, public worker strikes, Democrat political corruption and a president that golfs and fund raises while his country fails is also good news for Obama's re-election.

You're even more detached from reality than usual on this one. Face it, Romney stepped on his own dick and then doubled down on it. He not only got the facts wrong, but he went on with the lie hours after everyone called him out on it. And don't say it's just democrats saying he fucked up. Everyone not in a straight-jacket or deserving of one has said as much.

I'm going to enjoy watching you froth at the mouth once Obama gets re-elected.

I take it you support the apologies the Obama administration put out through the embassy in Cairo.

Why does it matter anymore?
Obama is a piece of shit whos number one goal is to destroy the middle and upper classes by making it easier and more socially acceptable to be poor and on government resources.

Romney is a robotic piece of shit whos number one goal is to destroy the lower and middle classes by making it easier for the rich to exploit us and get away with it.

Unless we get a real American in the white house the middle class loses.
