Did you see his picture. It looked for all the world like he was seriously explaining to the military where they were to send the rockets for the attack. It scared the hell out of me. I feel better now knowing it's about Ding Dongs.

North Korea was never really good at productive farming... now they are faced with a record drought which is leading to another large scale famine. The leadership in NK simply cannot go out and ask for aid... that would be seen as a leadership failure.

The real question is, why don't we all just agree to ignore them? They are all bluster, so why do we keep taking them seriously?

I will never understand why dictators are against capitalism. I don't know about you guys, but I would want to maximize my power and influence. Who has more power, Obama or Kim? Obama has more power in every way. More money, more technology, more political influence, control of the world reserve currency, more cultural influence, etc. A strong economy was the reason Germany was the strongest nation in the world in 1914. Economics was the source of Queen Victoria's power throughout the 1800s. North Korea is a complete joke because there is no economy. We need to constantly be reminded that North Korea exists.

Capitalism allows wealth, income, and production to be in the hands of the people. Why would a dictator want the people to have that kind of freedom? By their very nature dictators are totalitarians that want to complete control. Capitalism wouldnt give them that control.

Because, the reality is if North Korea actually marched their army on South Korea, if we weren't actively monitoring the situation, South Korea would be slaughtered.

I felt bad having to point out your a bit shallow in another thread so I'm just going to let this go. You could help yourself a bit though, I think, if you just didn't make so many assumptions with such profoundly unfounded certainty.

I am not a poster child liberal and I want to help CBD'ives improve their thinking. If I complain it's because you defectives are dangerous, mostly to yourselves.

So complain but refuse to back it up.

OK, I backed up everything I say about the CBD with one peer reviewed scientific paper after another. So I am not refusing to back it up, I am no longer interested in doing so. Know also that all the papers I presented were rejected by conservative brain defectives as predicted by the papers. You are no different. You are not capable of understanding. You are not capable of understanding what I just said. But just for the sake of practice, post back, "Thank you, now I understand," Amaze me.

LOL! So these people wrote papers saying "you're defective and if you disagree then it proves you're defective so neener neener". That's solidly middle school level tactics right there. And if you agree or disagree or never reply to this post then it further proves you are whatever I decide to say you are.

You and your brain defect already decided what I am. You have no free will. You are a programmed machine. Welcome to the machine. You've been in the pipeline.

You have yet to address the situation regarding the statement I asked regarding Vic's post

Awh... How cute! I see Kimmy pointing out the various endangered species localities his generals must avoid upsetting with their collateral damage. As a god he is responsible for all his created creatures that the west don't give a dang about.

It seems to me you refuse to consider his kind heart as it relates to his desire to both eliminate the awful and preserve the wonderful. Besides, it is a civil war, no? And, I love civility!

Let me just say that the secret to what he meant lies in the fact that the secret to understanding protects itself. It can't be given to those who do not deserve it and can't be kept from those who do. I am confident, therefore that all those who are worthy of understanding already understand and you and I are simply out of luck.

Its about respect and obedience. His people want to show respect and don't dare act like they know more than him out of fear and perpetual brainwashing.
Years ago I saw a documentary about doctors who went to NK to treat blindness. Apparently the poor nutrition leaves kids and seniors blind. The doctors did some laser treatment and vitamins cured every patients eye problems. Each patient then walked over to a picture of supreme leader said thanks and some said a prayer to the supreme leader. Nobody thanked the Doctors who actually brought the equipment and skills to cure them.

Isn't it amazing how so few can actually see. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has no concern whatsoever, about the sacred Mexican American border toads and wants to bury millions of them under a wall which will separate millions of other toad mothers from their baby toads. Maybe we should have more care about out own monsters.

Indeed!

It seems to me that monsters, where ever they dwell, are monsters of equal standing.

It might be a good first step to drop tons of food into N. Korea along with those ding dongs. The South might just show what humanity is by being human toward their own in the North. And, send a drone to off Kim and his buddies. A virus don't know whom it kills.... it just kills what it can.

nazi germany had a strong economy too.
But fascism still allows personal economic initiative and meritocracy I guess, as long as you're extremist enough.
Germany is an interesting example. How did Germany's economy get better after the Nazis came to power? Hitler defaulted on the WW1 debt. He simply refused to pay reparations. Like magic, the economy gets better. Crazy how that works. Fast forward a few decades, around 2009, and Iceland has a credit crisis. Instead of trying to pay the debt, Iceland defaults. The debt is wiped away, and the economy recovers. Today, Greece is drowning in debt. Has anyone come to the most basic conclusion of simply refusing to pay back any of the national debt? Nope. That would go against the plan of keeping the country's economy in the toilet as long as possible.
/conspiracy

Dictators in general are not against capitalism. Spain under Franco was capitalist.
African dictators love to sell resources and spend the money without giving anything to others.
Many south american dictators were not anticapitalist either. People moved to those countries under their power even.
Examples? I think China is the only dictator-like country I would ever invest money in. Africa is extremely resource wealthy, but nobody invests there. Companies move billion dollar factories to China, but nobody builds a factory in Zimbabwe. Nobody builds a factory in Zambia. Nobody builds a factory in Chad. Nobody builds a factory in Egypt. Trying to do business in these countries is virtually impossible.

Just follow the logic on this. Japan has no resources, but you can build a factory there and make things. Africa has enormous amounts of coal, oil, natural gas, metals, and trees, but you can't build a factory there. It doesn't even matter which part of Africa. If you build a factory in Zimbabwe, it's only a matter of time before the government steals it from you.

what do you think those who elected Tsipras wanted?

Still, Iceland is Iceland, a defaulted Greece would look more like Argentina, i.e. more of the same and the economy stays in the toilet.

Well that's the other part of dictatorship: there is lack of oversight, responsibility and rule of law, and consequently corruption and opportunity to make money through it.
That's bad for business.

Companies do invest in Africa, but they mostly do resource extraction. Chinese companies invest a lot in infrastructure though.

Zimbabwe is the worst dictatorship for the economy because there is no safety for your assets, but they're not communist by any means. Each farmer got his own piece of the white man's farms.

I guess China is the best example of a non-communist (not anymore) dictatorship getting along well with capitalism.

In simplistic language.

BS promotes more BS when called on it.
