There isn't anything wrong with them in my view either. But I know people by their Avatars, and there just plain are not enough. IMHO. We can make a special one for FFM since he can't decide, and a nice Dual one for PAB

If there were more different avatars contained in one thread, it would have that many more images to load. I believe Zuni said the avatars don't come to any appreciable amount of the bandwidth being used, however.

I've seen plenty of forums that let people upload (or link to) their own avatars. They are always a mess, because some people have the tendency to use little animated flashing avatars that are worse than the most obnoxious banner ads. Although the current selection may be a little limited, I don't think letting people link to their own is the best solution.

I think it'd be cool if we could have a contest or something to get more GENERAL non-personal banners. I think that it'd be too much work to censor every little personalized one.

New avatars will be added if/when we think new ones are needed, or we see some we like. We will never allow people to have their own icons, for the reason that our staff can't possibly go through 100,000 users icons to ensure there is nothing offensive . We're more focussed on adding new features that matter, and provide a benefit to everyone not just one person.
