Saw an article on the register about astronaughts growing bacteria in space...
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/08/23/space_bugs/

but this brought to mind a more important question... Are we doing BioSafety LEvel 3/4 work in space? How would we handle a situation where a pathogen escapes on the space shuttle or space station?

How would they handle a columbia scale accident if it had BS-4 material aboard and now spread all over the atmosphere?

wow this is heavy stuff...

Someone watched Invasion this weekend.

nope.

Andromeda Strain?

I watched Outbreak Several years ago... but my wife previously worked at a BS-2 in a UPMC lab... I was actually asking a truthful question.

lol that was the first thing I thought of as well.

great book, boring movie. maybe it would be more interesting on the screen if they made it now, with all the current technology available.

as for the OP, wouldnt any disaster likely destroy any pathogens in reentry?
