One really can't make such a general statement. I have a Volcano II, and the fan is just fine. Your's may have been crap. But certainly nobody can say that the entire line of fans are "garbage". Most people are happy with them, but some get through without being up to spec.

I have one and its doing okay. WHat do you expect for the price? Yours might be a defect so go exchange it.

If you hear a short rattling sound that disappears in about 1-2 min. - it's not the fan motor that's making the noise but rather its vibrating base. Try to use some super glue to attache it firmly to the HS... Should solve your problem.

Ouch! I've got one and it has worked okay after the superglue trick. I haven't had a problem with it, but I'm not a devotee. If I were building now I might choose something else. The Volcano II was just the hot buzz for a quiet cooler when I was putting my system together. I actually bought three HSFs and this one fit my needs.

If I'd had your experience though, I'd be throwing things. If it really killed your PSU, then I really feel for you. Hopefully it wasn't a great one to start with and it gives you an excuse to upgrade to something like Enermax or PC Power & Cooling.

I installed an Athlon 1.33GHz yesterday. No one at the show had any taisols for sale so, out of necessity I used the Volcano II I had sitting on the shelf. I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised. The chip is running at 1425MHz for now. (I'm installing it on a new mobo later today.) It's louder than the CoolerMaster DP5-6H11 I i=used with my Duron chip but not obnoxiously so.

Can you quote a temp. with the Volcano 2. I had it cooling 1,4GHz @ 1,75V and my temps were sky high... like 70C on MSI Turbo board in very cool case.
