The only reason why a new PoW coin would become popular is if there are many people who really prefer Proof of Work, but who would that be other than miners? They won't be able to afford mining long if they can only sell the coins to other miners, as mining will then always be something that costs miners money, as the only way for them to make money as a group is for non-miners to buy these coins.

There does seem to be some stickyness between coins. A bit. A lot of crypto is just simply speculation. That's why there are altcoins that have enough value that it's profitable to mine right now. It's really not hard to see a PoW coin getting hype behind it simply because it's PoW.

All the coins with non-zero demand are profitable to mine as long as there are not too many miners. The smaller the coin, the fewer miners can profitably mine the coin.

All other GPU mineable coins are very small compared to Ethereum and thus can support only relatively few miners. Again, my expectation is that ex-Ethereum miners will swarm those other coins and the only one making a profit are those who get electricity for free.

I can't wait to see the enormous price hike of next gen. It's going to be hilarious.

Not only is the video card market infected by miners, but every thread about video cards gets infected with crypto mining too. Where is my free copy of McAfee Anti-crypto?

we'all gonna get put in the timeout room soon enough, maybe let's edit the posts clean?

Edit every post and just add "Also, GPUs are too damn expensive" at the end. I'll offer some examples from posts above.

"Y'all wanna get a room or something? Lol." Also, GPUs are too damn expensive.

"we'all gonna get put in the timeout room soon enough, maybe let's edit the posts clean?" Also, GPUs are too damn expensive.

"Can I interest you in some NFTs? ;)" Also, GPUs are too damn expensive.

JHH only offered me a 1030 ti.
I'm actually almost surprised that isn't a thing. There were some 4GB DDR4 GT 1030 cards made from Chinese mfgs, but none that I ever saw with 4GB GDDR5. Could have been like gaming's crippled younger brother of a GTX 1050 TI 4GB.

Ethereum has slid back under $3000. Difficulty does look like it is still increasing, albeit not much.

There's an anti-crypto thread over in the general nonsense forum since it got moved there for having little technical merit. If you wish to spew invective, that might be the right place to do so.
The topic is about video cards, not mining cards to be fair. Saying that, prices of 6600/3060 (non Ti) tier cards have slightly fallen recently but 6700 XT/3060 Ti-3070 Ti have been fairly stubborn in the UK. Ther sooner mining goes the way of the dinosaurs the better for video card pricing, except for the used card flood that I hope is coming soon which will be epic.

Prices should drop even more in the next 2 weeks if some articles I've read the last month have any merit. It's nice to see 1.6 gen cards not going for half a grand anymore.

We've already had one thread moved out of the tech forums since it was essentially focused on blockchain-related topics; on top of that, the post was over-the-top and devoid of any actual content related to what you've just posted or anything else even vaguely related to this thread. It's just malicious nonsense.
