Are UV lights and fans carcinogenic

If any of you know the answer to the question, I would very much appreciate it.

Does the UV rays generated by these computer case components belong to UVA or UVB spetra, and thus cause cancer ? I don't know if this question has been discussed before; does anyone have a good answer to this? Or are we taking a risk on our health by using these?

I'm dying to know.

Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing sitting on your ass doing nothing but looking at a computer screen, or that can of mountain dew you drank the other day causes more cancer than the UV lights in a computer. Are you like trying to tan your arm or something with your computer case?

Bottom line, is that by going out to your mail box, you are getting hit with many more UV rays that a little bulb in your computer can put out.

Pretty much. A carcinogen is just somethig that MAY cause cancer, nobody needs direct supporting evidence to say that a microwave causes cancer, the T.V. causes cancer, your cellphone causes cancer, your speakers cause cancer, your shoes cause cancer, because anything can cause cancer. Normal cell growth can lead to cancer. If you feel unsafe using something, then don't. It's probably not worth the paranoia. But I can honestly say that it's most likely that nothing bad will come from UV lights, at all, ever for you.

Let's hope not. 😀

You might ask a dermatologist. He/she would be familiar with tanning lamps and their potential risks for skin cancer. Maybe write down the UV 'specs' of the computer lamps you're concerned about and ask the dermatologist if those numbers pose a risk. I'd guess they're not likely to be a huge danger, but then again I've seen pics of some insanely lit computers :Q that might be visible from space. Who knows how much UV lite some of those machines are putting out.

If you get a definitive answer, post back & let us know. Now I'm curious (although I don't use any lamps in my rig).
