Instead of connecting a bunct of devices to one computer could I connect a couple of computers to one device? I know they make all kinds of cable and such . Has anyone tried this?

Yes, they do make USB switches for multiple computers to share a USB device.

Do a search on Newegg-- I've seen it there before.

However, most of the time it turns out to be more expensive than buying just another one of the USB device you want to share.

hey thanks I found one for 25 bucks... got to figure out how to implment it now. The deal is I have an All in one printer and I want to share it but I don't leave the computer on all the time so just sharing it is out. I only want to share the printing function but I cant do that with traditional print servers. Thanks again.

Yes, to share one device, a switch is the way. Hubs are one-way.
