Are Ubuntu CD ISOs updated?

I have 10.04 installed in my laptop and so far I've downloaded about 400 MB worth of OS updates. I was wondering, are these added to the ISOs available at Canonical's site so that if I ever need to reinstall I can just go and get an ISO with the latest updates, or are they the same ISOs they have in there since they launched 10.04?

I don't believe so, I believe whenever they release an updated ISO they also update the version, so something like 10.04.1.

No, only maintenance releases that come with a new number tacked on after the last decimal contain updates and by the time it is released, there are likely more waiting.

I don't know, what's so good about 10.10 that could convince me to risk breaking my already tuned 10.04?

Installed Meerkat on my Studio 14z, pretty slick. Debating whether I want to stick with it or install Mint 10 RC.

FYI, I believe the maintenance releases are only for LTS editions?

This is why I like Debian sid's rolling releases, there's never huge complete system upgrades. Instead I get all of the changes piecemeal as they enter the repository.

The Debian rollout path is sid (unstable) > squeeze > stable, right? How much of a differences is there between sid and squeeze? Being on the very bleeding edge (sid) would make me a bit uneasy, but the stable releases are, IMO, a bit too far behind for my liking.

The big problem with running testing is that you don't get any security updates. I can't remember the last time I had a real problem running sid, as long as you have apt-listbugs installed it should tell you whenever there's a big enough problem to hold off updating for a few days.
