Was talking to some friends the other day. Apparently a local unethical tow company will sometimes tow a random car when they, the tow company, is in need of money.

Why not have a law that anytime a car is towed, the tow company must have photographic proof of the violation and the posted sign? And without proof the tow company must immediately release the vehicle and provide financial restitution to the owner of the car. It wouldn't take more than five minutes for the tow truck driver to take the photo and it would go a long way towards preventing this sort of thing.

It's a new law in the works. I'm not sure if it is in place yet or not and whether it is a federal, state or local law.

It will eventually happen. Digital photo tech is easy and cheap now and everyone knows tow companies are scammers.

They tow residents from their own spots if they can't see their parking tag.
Car owners can never defend themselves.

On the one hand, the towing company scumbag predators will do whatever they can get away with.

On the other hand, when you actually need a tow, it takes forever to get somebody to come and tow you!
