are toshiba 16x/48x - 1502 dvd rom's quiet?

trying to decide b/t a toshiba 12x/40x and 16x/48x....i'd like to get the 16x (1502) but i'd like to know if its loud...........anyone? Otherwise, the 1402 might have to do

They're both very quiet compared to other 40x drives.

kajiki, if you care about watching DVD's from other regions, you have your decision made for you. The 12x can be unlocked with a firmware flash, the 16x cannot (as of today).

I doubt you'll need/notice the speed improvement
