Are those ionic breeze air filters any good?

I've never seen one except on the TV, and I figure that since they keep advertising it, SOMEBODY is buying them. I noticed a sharper image outlett that has refurbs for a cheap price.

Has anyone used one of these before? did you notice that the air in the room was cleaner? Does it help prevent allergies?

They are as effective as an old desk at removing 'harmful particles' (i.e. dust and dander) from your air. DO NOT BUY.

I bought a knockoff at walmart.
It works okay. We have dogs and cats, so I put it near the dog pen and cat box. It has helped to keep the odors down. It picks up a lot crud from the air. We used to have a carbon filter, but I got tired of spending so much for replacement cartridges. This seems to work just as well. I clean the blades every few days.

i recall some reports stating they are actually harmful if you have asthma...or soemthing like that...

you might want to google

NO! Luckily Sharper Image let my friend return two after the ozone scare and he got a $450 credit.

Read consumer report's article about them.

I know a guy who bought an expensive model and he claims the air in the house is a little cleaner. We live in the desert and he has a lot of pets.
He said its a noticable difference but he would not normally pay full price for one.
(His sister works at Sharper Image.)

Just did. Lots of reviewers complain about respitory and headache problems.

They can be useful. My dad sells a good brand, but you shoul donly use it when you leave your house because the ozone can sterilize your house, but when you are at home, you should use a HEPA filter.
