The TBBs multipliers can be set to anything. They are unlocked. Not all motherboards can set every multiplier. Older mobos like yours were only designed to set 4 of the multiplier bridges, and the TBB has 5 multiplier bridges. Your TBB has a multiplier (13) with the 5th bridge set high. Therefore, your mobo can set the multipliers 13 and above, but you need to translate the settings in the BIOS to figure out what it is really set to. Lots of info

KF that's a good page. I'm trying to find something that lists the Mobo's that can set Tbred multi's, and which ones? Ever heard of one like that?

No.

I came close to buying an nForce2 mobo recently, so I was watching what people had to say. As it developed, 98% of this supposed info is misunderstanding and confused misinterpretation. As near as I can tell, only the latest BIOS of some nForce2 mobos will set every possible multiplier a TBB can use (5 to 24) so that it actually works. Most of the claimed automatic unlocking was simply the fact that all TBBs ARE UNLOCKED from the factory. The second claimed unlocking is simply being able to access a few mutlipliers from 13 above for TBB 2100+, which has a multplier of 13. Then people were trying to drop the multiplier of 2100+ and couldn't. They "unlocked" the multipliers by "the pin trick". What this means is that their mobo was NOT ABLE to set the lower mutipliers, not that the TBB was "locked". The discussions on this are a "Tower of Babel". When people say their mobo "unlocks" all the multipliers, I don't know if they have tried them all or not, or whether in order to "unlock" some multpliers they used "the pin trick. Everybody has their own idea.

So the better question would be, which Mobo's (and hence which version of their bios) support T-Bred multipliers?

from that link, it implies that the only way to up my multiplier is through physical opening/closing of the bridges. :( i guess i'll have to get an nforce2 then.

Try this: what ever multiplier you want, set to 8x less. Example: 13.5x - set 5.5x in BIOS.

The XP2100+ has a default of 8x-HI. Your board can't control that line, it was designed when the T-bird was king and only had 4 FID lines.

well, that did the trick perfectly. i'm currently running 150x15 = 2.25ghz. with a radeon 9700 pro, i'm only getting 13200 with 3dmark01 and 4500 with 3dmark03. does that sound right?
