Are they selling P5W DH with the 0903 (or latest) BIOS already installed?

I've read in other threads that all you have to do is call asus tech support and they will send you a replacement bios free of charge.

But I'd think most boards would have the older bios, because conroe is very new. Now if you wait a month or so then probably all the old mobo's will
be cleared out of retailers.

I talked to the retailer I'm ordering from and they got their shipment last friday. That shipment had the latest BIOS and it came directly from Asus. So anything that's went in to stock last week or so should be good enough.

Thanks Savvy, guess i will just have to take the risk...... unless the box has a flip top, or the store helps me out.

Yeah, I hate how it says Conroe support on the box but can lead to headaches after you open it up and put your build together only to find out the BIOS is in need of an update.

This wouldnt really be a problem, because i was planning on a P5B deluxe , but unfortunately i ordered my memory (OCZ ddr2-800mhz) before hand and that wont work with the 965chipsets because of the voltage.

I am frustrated to no end here, and thats WITHOUT having any of my parts physically.

Yeah, I was on the verge of ordering my parts before I found this out as well. I have no part of my computer ordered at all, so far. I wanted to make sure that I can decide on everything before ordering anything.

I might just end up shelling out an extra 47 or so dollars for a celeron at newegg to update the BIOS. Can someone explain this to me a little clearer? I would actually have to install the celeron with heatsink and everything, post up into the BIOS and update it? (with a floppy, cd, or what?) I would like a step by step brief explanation. [This is the cheapest celeron by the way, for those wanting to know http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustratingReview.asp?item=N82E16819112207]

That seems like a lot of trouble just to update the BIOS, time consuming, and money consuming. :\

To change the bios chip, you just pry the old one out w/ a nylon screw driver or use a chip puller.

Just as well get the board and order the bios chip replacement.

You have a lot of time because more than likely you'll have the mobo & rpl. bios chip before you get the cpu.

Nope, not free of charge. They charge you $5 to ship you the bios chip. Should be free since they advertise the board as Conroe ready!
