Are they paid to write this?

Hardware may not be PC Zones' speciality, but I've been reading it for years and its miles better than any other games mag like PC Gamer (load of crap). You'd be hard put to find one thats funnier or more well written (FHM style) and gives such honest reviews! Rant over😛
 
If there are any reviews that clash with each other you should definately believe the one that comes from the register!

Just found out that Steve Spence (theregister) is the guy that writes PCzone Hardware reviews, he is an nvidiot thru and thru.

Had a look on other boards on t'internet, his name is pretty much mud, but he does get to use the nvidea lear jet @ the weekends.

Spot on there. Ive read PC Zone for years, and had a subscription for the last 3years.
I agree with 99% of the reviews that they do. They have a great preview section. And the hardware news aint bad. The hardware stuff is getting better, but somethings fishly about the FX review.
I got the mag about a week ago, and when i read "...so if your looking for a shiney new DX9 card, and have the cash, then we`d opt for the FX..." I thought WTF is going on here, the FX barely out performs the 9700PRO.

Main board, you need shooting. lol

Its the best gaming mag out in the UK, bar none.
What are you going to buy, sh1tty pc gamer, who put up the price`s w/ no extra content, or PC Zone, who put up price, but give you loads of new stuff when they do.
 
Just looked at the link.
Theres no way in hell that a GF FX out performs a 9800. Not by a very very long shot.
 
the only possible way that could happen is if they somehow screwed up the ATI drivers and have the card runnign at les sthan half performance.... and cryogenicly froze the geforcefx and then clocked the hell outta it
 
Plus they're using stupid settings: 2X AA/No AF and then 4XAA/8X AF, and you just know that when using the 8X AF on the nvidia card they're using the "agressive mode" which does nothing or using the slower ATI one for no reason (the faster one is pretty much the same quality).

How can they post this trash? It goes against every preview/review I've seen of these cards. The FX doesn't even beat the 9700 in many situations!
