Are these X2's coming w/fans/hs?

usually, the ones that first come out are oem, so they dont come with hsf. once retail ones start shipping, you will get an hsf.
 
no clue, havent been jeeping up on the x2's very much, since i dont plan on getting one for a while, but usually, the oem's come out first.
 
OEM = no HSF or manufacturer's warranty
Retail = comes with HSF and 3 year warranty

Most early shipping X2's are OEM, so they come with nothing.
 
my guess is that the retail X2s will ship with the same fans that come with the FX chips, since they have the same thermal envelope. It's a bit better than the standard A64 HSF, i think it uses some copper and stuff. They probably won't have retail chips for a while though. I'd recommend something a bit more powerful anyways, maybe a Zalman 7700 or a thermaltake XP90/120. I REALLY REALLY can't wait for the new HSF zalman showed at Computex, the 9500 - it's basically 2 7000s facing opposite directions connected to the base with heatpipes! It looks like it's move a crapload of air.

i had already known this, but have always wondered who takes care of the warrenty, shorley you get some sort of warrenty, if so is this through the retailer

In answer to the original question, any stores you see carrying the X2's that are marked "retail" do indeed include the heatsink, the fan, and a 3 year warranty. The retail version are all that we are presently carrying.

In answer to the warranty question, warranties are always handled by the manufacturer, unless you buy an "extended warranty" from the shop where you buy the part. Typically, the retailer will offer you a replacement for a defective part within the return period. After that, you deal directly with the manufacturer.

It works this way because we as retailers don't manufacture the parts, we just provide an easy way for the average customer to buy them. So all warranty work is handled by the manufacturer.

The retail X2 HSF probably should be all that different than the standard retail AMD fans, since the power consumption and heat generation of the X2 chips is supposed be a bit less than the older Newcastle and Clawhammer cores.
