so after 25 years witht the store, my dad got real sick and cannot work the store anymore. furthermore the store is not exactly making $.

economy is slow and the internet is killing him. *adult video store*

Long story short i was working for him today and hes got hundreds of dvd cases with a little round sticker (stock #) on them.

would these be worth anything ?

Yeah, porn is more or less a free commodity on the internet, so I can see the only way to make money via an adult bookstore would be to branch out into selling toys, fetishwear, or other things of that nature.

That's what the video stores around here did when they went out of business (blockbuster came to town...)
If not, sell them on e-bay (as previously mentioned)

I always thought the money to be made at adult stores was in the video booths.

Add in the bachelor/bachelorette party accessories and he should be able to do alright. I think the online market has garnered a majority of the toy market but the novelties is what should sell OK still as its more an impulse purchase for gag purchases.

They opened a Hollywood Video about three years ago, 500 yards from a Blockbuster. I noticed last week the Hollywood Video closed. In the meanwhile, they remodeled the Blockbuster into about 1/3 of its original size. I don't know of any independent video rental places still open in our area.

hes hanging in there, finally quite smoking cigs, hasent had one in 2 weeks, hes stubborn and is doing it cold turkey.

but anyway, yeah the internet killed him, 10 years ago his income was 300% more.

let me tell you though, who ever created the bangbros ans reality kings sites, they throw them on dvds and sell them in the retail stores (like my fathers)

those are the most expensive videos, my dad sold them the cheapest at $45 and the store 5 min away was $60.

he paid $~23 wholesale i believe.

he was actually a school teacher and then got a second night job for extra cash at "sideovideo"

long story later, 2 years later my mom walked in and my dad picked her up (at the time, it was a regular video store, with a very small adult "back area".)
