Are these signs of a bad CPU ???

Hey there,

I have some info here I need some feedback on.

Unfortnately, as always there is bad news. I have an MSI K7T-Turbo board
right now. I just bought a new K7T-Turbo2 thinking it was the
board. Well I was taking off my AX-7 and Mechatronics fan....well
while trying to get the darn AX-7 off the stupid screw driver
slipped :Q. I double-checked to see if there are any gashes but I
could not find any. The Turbo2 is for a test.....the comp guy I
bought it from said I could bring it back if I didn't mess the
manuals up or scratch the TURBO2. Anyway, to make a long story
short I took the CPU off........when I did I noticed a little wierd
shiny mark in the center of the bottom of the CPU. I haven't
put any stuff on it. It was like that when I took it off. Also,
someone mentioned that a CPU could be cooked if there is BLUE
STUFF around the core :frown:. The SHINY UNDERSIDE area is not that big.
It's about the size of the thermal sensor under the CPU.

My questions are:
1) How much of this BLUE STUFF does there need to
be ?? I thought there was SOME when I bought the CPU ??
2) Is this shiny area underneath while NOT ALOT could mean a
cooked CPU ???

Burning silicon has a very distinctive fragrance. Pungent, and bittersweet, medium bodied, and on the dry side. Slight floral tones. Some people swear that the aroma of French coffee gets them out of bed, but they've never tried AYHJA.

Hey there,

That's what I thought but one time a person said it meant a BAD CPU....I thought
that person was smokin something 😕 LOL

Thanks for the info
