Are these results acceptable for a MSI Ti4200?

I just bought a msi Ti4200 128mb 8x. I overclocked it the stable clock was 274/594. Stable for me means that it can run 3dmark03 without any lockups. I've heard that the card's core clock could higher.

3dmark03 score-1650
C&C Generals- 30fps, 15-20fps when the action heats up

Running a 2.4ghz P4, 512mb ddr333 ram, 80gb western digital hdd.

That C&C:G score is meaningless since

(a) you didn't include the settings
(b) who the hell benchmarks with that anyhow? :p

And yes, you should be able to get a better core. (300/600 here, direct vented cooling)

seems about right.
forget 3dmar03. whats your 01 scores?
btw I think the core can easily reach 300mhz, but don't take my word for it. go step by step.

Well, my 3dmark2001 score is 11898 at 274/594. Got a 11863 at 280/594. Anything higher will lock up at the high quality vehicle test. I got a lower mark at a higher clock?
C&C generals is set at high quaility 1024x768, with my card at 274/594.
Using low level rivatuner overclocking, 44.03 drivers.

And BTW, what is direct vented cooling?

Latest 3dmark2001 result: 11926 at 274/594. I'm just wondering why I can't achieve a higher stable clock for my core...

How many fps do you get on generals? 20+ tanks firing, 5 buildings, 15-20fps. Is this the video card or the game's problem?

that doesn't seem right.
even though its a generation ahead, with the 9700 using x4AA/x16AF in Generals everything is smooth, no matter what.
I even have really really crappy RAM.
The 3Dmark2001SE score is ok, though.

That's a 10% overclock for both the GPU and the RAM... not too shabby.
I've had better luck with my Asus... but then again, it's not really a Ti4200... it uses a Ti4600 PCB with 3.3ns RAM (Ti4600 is 2.8ns)
I'm overclocking to faster speeds than a stock Ti4600... needless to say, my $140 investment in this card was WELL worth it.

Hmm, what do you think might be the problem? Is it the game or the hardware? I did a test with settings on low in Generals, i get 30-40fps in non action scenes and 25-30 with 20+ tanks. (1024x768x32bit)

As for overclocking, I think I should be satisfied with it, since it is nearly reaching a ti4400 core speed. I think I can't overclock any higher because my system cooling is not good. 44 C idle. Don't know how high when running a 3d app. I've touched my casing before and at the side, where the ti4200 is located, its hotter than the top of my casing. At the top of my casing, i can leave a wet cloth there and watch it dry in 10-15 minutes.

I don't own C&C Generals... nor have I ever played it... but it sounds to me like that game would be more CPU dependant than video card dependant. Kinda like the way MS Flight Simulator is... sucks up CPU power... but doesn't take much video balls to run it.
