I've been reading the forums and no one seem to like these. I wanted to purchase this for my system but now am unsure. Can someone please tell me why they are not a good choice?

The system I am trying to build is this:

SN26P
AMD X2 4800+ or 4400+
2 x 7800 GTX
2 x 1GB OCZ Platinum 2-3-2-5
2 x 74GB Raptors Raid 0
1 x 400GB SATA Western Digital HD

I got most the parts except the CPU and the Ram.

its got 5 stars ("eggs") on newegg...those are good timings (the only numbers that matter are the first three, the fourth, the "recharge" means nothing.) I run some corsair 2-3-3-6 that is 98 USD with rebates right now, and I have no problems. OCZ is a good name. Lifetime warranty. I'd say you'd be hard pressed to go wrong.
 
They are good timing but I read that OCing is no good at all. I just want to make sure that it can OC decent enough to run my system at its potential.
 
My 2x512 OCZ EL Rev 2 does 250mhz +

I normally run 235 @ 2/3/38/ 1T

I just got 2x1GB G.skill's..

Messing with them now.. Had a hell of a time getting them to boot, but now that I am in, I will get some fine tuning in!
 
The OCZ platinum rev2's 2-2-2-5, memory overclocks like mad up to 300mhz
The OCZ platinum 2-3-2-5, don't overclock well, only to about 220mhz

But on the A64 platform memory speed really matters very little except in synthetic benchmarks. The regular platinum is a fine choice performance wize IMO.
 
ocz plat. are good I dont know what you are talking about maybe not the best for ocing but still good. If you wanted some thing difference check out cruical ballstix or how ever they spell it.
