I would get a second opinion on this, but logically:

Manual says:

1x M.2 slot (M2_1, Key M)**
** SATA5 and SATA6 ports will be unavailable when installing a M.2 device in
M2_1 slot.

and

1x M.2 slot (M2_2, Key M)*

* PCI_E2, PCI_E3, PCI_E4 and PCI_E5 slots will be unavailable when installing
M.2 PCIe SSD in M2_2 slot.

Sounds like it has two M.2 slots, once for SATA type and the other for PCIE.

It looks to me thd one is from the CPU PCIe 3.0 x4 (NVMe only), and the one from the chipset is PCIe 2.0 x4 (which supports NVMe and SATA SSDs).

The manual on page 17 says it supports RAID 0 and 1 for M.2 NVMe.

A review from toms hardware said what UsandThem mentioned, apart that it can support either of both interfaces. Can it be done? The speed drop of the second slot is not a problem as it will be used for storage.

I looked at the manual and I agree with UsandThem. Also I don't think I've ever seen a M.2 slot that doesn't support NVMe.

My Dell laptop, which I believe I bought in 2016, had a M.2 slot that only supported SATA SSDs.

I think that's the only time I've seen one.
