Are these IDE cables garbage? {w/pics}

IDE Cable #1 - Found this while trying to fix my hard drive problem. Seems to be working OK with file transfers but it doesn't look good. I found the cable like this in a bag I got with a new motherboard, so I'm not sure if this is normal or what.

IDE Cable #2, Pic #2 - This was hooked up to my Maxtor 20gig drive for the past 2 years. Well, the hard drive just died and I took this cable off and was wondering if it's bad to have a cable bunched up like this.

I have seen that hole in the new IDE cables...the ones with 80 pins or wires or whatever I think it is natural.

As for the second cable...I don't see anything wrong with it, unless it has obvious damage.

No damage that I can see

Just looks like crap.

Next time I'll buy REAL rounded cables
