Are these elements of CSI completely inaccurate?

-Forensics scientists carrying guns
-Them interrogating suspects
-Them doing the follow up investigations

They might carry guns in some depts, just for safety's sake, but they never interogate suspects. Thats the detectives job. They simply gather evidence.

Generally not. Most states have a forensic lab run by the state police that handles most, if not all chemical/biological specimens. Thus, the patrol officers and investigators process the crime scenes and the police lab scientists perform the testing in the labs.

Again, see above. The interrogations are done by the investigators who generally don't handle evidence except to transport it to the forensic labs.

Same as above. This is usually handled by investigators and patrol officers.

Beard thing hasn't bothered me....not hard to imagine someone got ahold of some razors in luggage. Those can last a long time before being completely worthless (still been less than 2 months). I question Jack's short haircut staying so consistant more than anything.

My pet peeve is when blurry security video footage is enhanced to yield a crystal clear image.

Or rotated through 90 degrees and titled upwards to give a full-face picture.

LOL, the real forensic folks are lab geeks that never leave their lab, and the tests that they do can take months, but on CSI, they get results in hours...

they have shown episodes where there were haircuts being given and people shaving. most of the guys do have a beard, which could be trimmed with a scissor. if they kept showing the characters shaving and cutting their hair and figuring out how to wipe their butts, the show would be sorta lame, no?

well much of the characters have expertise/do tests that probably are done by individual specialists. plus they take weeks.. and are sent off to the fbi or whatever. but that would seriously slow down the show😉 and plus they don't have jerry bruckheimer budgets. he bought real equipment as props lol🙂 real csi's probably are pretty bitter.

Rising Sun.

I used to work in a private forensic laboratory, and needless to say anything I encountered in the real world was nothing at all in any sort of fashion close to CSI. I knew some people who worked for a city forensic laboratory, and none of them were sworn officers and therefore did not have a badge or a gun. However some sworn officers were involved with that police division, but they were not scientists.

I have watched maybe a total of 45 minutes of CSI over the past many years because it is so ridiculous. I watched a few minutes just recently, and had to roll my eyes and change the channel.
