Are these drives SMR? 5TB Samsung (Seagate) external desktop drive.

i guess u havent heard the reputation seagate has gotten lately?

i would second question anyone i know if they bought a seagate drive.

These are most likely their normal high density drives probably with 1.2TB per platter, they had a TB per platter density back in 2013 IIRC.

As for reliability, why don't you try it out yourself? What you'll get here will be anecdotal records at best, besides the drives were launched fairly recently & so you will not have sufficient data to draw any conclusions.
