Are these 8800gts temps safe?

Hi. I've got an old 320MB evga 8800 gts.
I'm not sure why but while writing this post, it started idling at 81, but normal idle temperature is about 70 degrees celsius.

When running far cry 2 benchmark on small ranch, it went up to about 78ish.

In case it helps my other specs:
CPU: intel c2d e6750
ram: 2gb crucial ballistix 800mhz ddr2
mobo: gigabyte p35 ds3r

all stock settings, no mods or anything, clean install of windows 7, using 185.81 drivers btw and kind of unstable for some reason. anyway the question is about the temps xD

70 idle is quite normal. 81 isn't. Hopefully that's a fluke of some sort.

78 load is also quite normal. As long as it doesn't develop a habit of flashing 80s temps for prolonged periods during "Idle" (since 8800s never actually idle) then I wouldn't worry.

Well kinda confused now. Just shut down my computer, cleaned up the gpu fans, and opened up GPU-Z. Under sensors there seems to be two readings for GPU temperature that are "current". One is saying 65.8 and another says 72.

Overall temps seem to have lowered, probably a dust problem, but why two current readings that are different?
Is 80+ load normal? Usually it hovers around 80 under high load

uhh wth !? 70 idle is not normal lol that's too hot that's load temp high increase the fan from 30% to 100% and 80c temps are normal under load for about 10 mins in furmark get that card back down to about 50-60c range or else your card will be in trouble...

That sounds about right. My old 8800GTS 320MB would idle at 64C and load at 87C under furmark. You probably should clean out the dust from the cooler every 6 months or so. I found that there was quite a bit of dust buildup in mine after a few months of usage.

I think those old G80 fans were just set to a low idle speed. The load temps aren't bad at all. Sure beats the average 285 load temps.

Hmm... the idle temps is a bit high IMO. But if the load temperature doesn't go past 85ºC, I'd say you're OK.

Still, you should consider adding a sidefan to your case or something. Those temperatures, while safe, aren't optimal.
