Are these 21" monitors the same?

Dell P1130
HP P1130

They are both .24, so despite the HP being rated for 2048x1536, it's obviously only 1600x1200.... But on that epinions page, the Dell's nativ res is listed as 1280x1024, and the aspect ratio is apparently 5:4. What gives? I can buy either of these in Craigslist for around $50, but the Dell is a nice black color.

If the P1130 is anything like my old P1110 (probably), it does 1600x1200, 85Hz just fine. It SOUNDS like they're the same..probably the Trinitron tube, huh? The 1110 was. And as such, they should be fairly interchangeable.

I dont wanna sound like a braggart but my 19" Philips does 1920x1440.
I see no reason why a quality 21 incher coudnt do 2048x1536.

Might be a good idea to scour the HP website or call customer service.

TTBOMK...they are both 1 of the same (rebadged Sony) so go for the black if that what you want as it'll do 1280 x 1024 ? 1600 x 1200 ? 2048 x 1536 ? 640 x 480 ? 720 x 400 ? 800 x 600

I'd expect them to be the same. I have a HP P1120 and a Dell P1130, and they use the same Sony FDTrinitron tube, except the Dell's electronics are better, allowing it to reach higher refresh rates than the HP. I'm running mine at 1600x1200@85Hz.

CRT monitors don't have native resolutions. They have recommended resolutions that are rather arbitarily set by manufacturers, but you can run it at any resolution provided it has enough bandwidth. And all CRT monitors I know of, including these 2, have 4:3 aspect ratios.

the HP 1130 also reaches upto 2048 x 1536. I currently have it running at 1600 x 1200 @ 100Hz (on nvidia). on ATI cards, I can run it at 1600 x 1200 @ 120Hz. This is when I use the Plug n Play mode.

I will be putting mine on sale soon, so if anyone is intersted, PM me 🙂
