I had a Leadtek GeForce 2 Pro in my pc which went bad. The computer company sent me a GeForce 4MX A170 (Leadtek) in return. Is this a comparable video card or did they pass me off with something cheaper? I'm concerned cause I thought the MX series wasn't as good.

Same core at the heart of those cards. Faster memory (and probably more of it), clockspeeds, and a few more features makes the GF4 MX an upgrade IMO.

ya the reason the geforce4mx isn't any good is becasue it is basicly the same thing as what came out two seasons before, the geforce2. so in your case they did you just fine.

yep definately comparable. The A170 (GF4 MX 440) might be a bit faster, so you definately got a good deal!

;) Absolutely. The GF4MX gets a bad rep because in pure 3D speed and feature sets it is far inferior to the GF3. The GF4MX are simply faster GF2 with a few enhancements, namely better image quality, DVD playback, dual display (where applicable) and TVout. In pure 3D, the GF4MX420 is a bit slower than a GF2pro while the GF4MX440SE is about on par while the usual GF4MX440 is easily faster than a GF2pro, the GF4MX440-8X and GF4MX460 are faster again but still way off the pace of a GF3 let alone a GF4TI4200. Good upgrade in my books, even the GF4MX420 is preferable to a GF2pro in many respects so you should be happy ... they could have given you a GF2TI which would only be VERY minorly better than a GF2pro and those are cheaper than any GF4MX!
