I'm looking to buy a 1 gig cpu from newegg. But I can't tell if these are both the same cpu or not:

INTEL PENTIUM III 1GHz 133MHz FSB FCPGA PROCESSOR
-OEM Version.

Intel Pentium III 1GHz 256K 133MHz FSB Socket 370 PGA Processor - Retail Box with Heatsink and fan

Now I know one of these is a retail box and another is an OEM but are they the same chip otherwise? I currently am running a celeron 533 fc-pga. So will I be able to run either CPU?

Thanks but I called newegg and they were more clueless than I am. They said all they know about the product is whatever's listed in the description. Whatever that means. Anyone else out there know?

well theyre both 133FSB. 256K = CuMine (all the 1ghz PIII's fit in this category)
FC-PGA = S370

only difference is one has a warranty and a heatsink.

IIRC, if you are thinking about overclocking the chips, you need to get a OEM version because those are cDO steppings while the retails were cC0 steppings. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

The only difference is that the retail version will come with a 3 year warranty from Intel (along with a HSF unit and a case sticker) while the OEM has like a 20-30 day warranty from the vendor. If the price difference is low get the retail version.
