Are thermal pads reuseable?

Hello Everyone,
I just received my CPU upgrade. I am currently running a Duron 750mhz CPU with a Globalwin FOP32-1 heatsink/fan. The HS/F came with a thermal pad and since I'm not planning to overclock, I just used the thermal pad instead of the silicon goop, and it has been keeping my Duron at around 30 degrees Celcius My new CPU is an Athlon TBird 1.2ghz. I have checked both the AMD and Globalwin websites, and they both stated that my current HS/F will be suffice for up to 1.33ghz. My question to you now is, can I just place the HS/F right on top of the TBird? I'm assuming that the groove that has been left by the Duron will fit perfectly on the Athlon. Or do I have to do something special like smoothing out the pad first and creating a new groove. My CPU also came with a tube of silicon paste with no name brand. Please respond with whether it is okay to reuse the pad or not. Any other opinions are welcomed. Thanks for your time.

I get better temps on processors with good old radio shack thermal paste. It is cheaper than AS and works allot better.

I put AS2 on a Celeron 566@893Mhz with a Plat orb and stayed at 104 F at full load
and with the same sink and Radioshack paster 98f Full load.

This is just an opinion.

i would not use the pad again.
