Are there wireless TV receivers?

OK, I have a TV in my room but the cable hookup is in the living room. When I want to watch TV, I always have to lay a cable from my room to the cable hookup, which is quite annoying. Is there a way to have a little "magic" box that I can hookup to the cable thingie and then "stream" it to my TV?

Thanks in advance!

Are you in an apartment? Just use a screwdriver and punch a hole in the drywall in the corner and run the cable through. I've done this in several apartments and they never busted my chops when I moved out. The next people that live there will probably actually appreciate it. Worst case scenario you run to Home Depot and get some drywall patch for $2.99 when you move out and you cover it up.

The problem is it would be a PITA, I could take pictures of where it would have to go thru, maybe tomorrow. The problem is, it would have to go "thru" a hallway where you need such a plastic thing to cover it and that looks crappy.

Yeah, I used to have that in our apartment - looked messy and was annoying after a while. Much happier with the wireless setup.

difficult to say (we've just moved out of our apartment and waiting to move into a new house). I would guess about 10 metres?

Does your apt complex have a website showing floor plans?

FWIW, I know a club near me that has a projector going to a screen about 20ft above the dance floor. It broadcasts wireless from the DJ booth and I remember seeing they had a good projector but the picture quality sucks.

Me thinks your apartment layout sucks. ;) Punching holes in the walls doesn't seem like an option, either go across the ceiling and deal w it looking like crap or go wireless like you said. Of the ones listed above I would get the RF Link one because it's 5.8Ghz and it has the IR repeater which not all appear to come with. Getting up and walking across the apt to change channels would quickly lose it's appeal.

Got enough bottles of cologne/perfume? I see you're in Switzerland...did you grow up in France?

\I'm sorry that was ignorant

might get inteference if you use 2.4 gz cordless phones or wireless network...

I tried the RCA one from best buy...the receiver was in the next room (about 15 feet and through just one wall) and the picture was very snowy...tried all 11 channels but same thing...not sure my cordless phones or wireless network caused the problem...anyway, it went back the next day...

Hm, true. Might check out some 5.8GHz options.

So if you want to change the channel, do you have to change it on the cable box/receiver, or are you able to install a splitter and then change the channel on the receiving end of the transmission?

I really hope I can change the channel on the receiving end, otherwise, it wouldn't make much sense IMO.
