when motherboard makers are slow to market, it makes me wonder if some of them are having problems with implementation. why do you guys think the boards have been slow to come out?

NO! There is no problem with the KT266A, the problem is with the KT266. They mass produced them so quick and they are now overstocked and still trying to get rid of them. As soon as inventory goes down then the manufacturer's will start pumping sales with the KT266A. Why do you think the big makers haven't come out with the KT266A mobo yet? Because they are loaded with the previous model. The time span between these two chipsets was so close it caught makers by surprise!

The KT266A is pin-compatible with the KT266. The only implementation change the mfg.'s have to make is to slap the KT266A onto the board instead of the KT266 and load a different BIOS. Nothing else changes for them.
