Are there people that can only love once?

I once read about some mammal -- some kind of rodent or something -- that bonds very strongly with their mate. These animals hardly ever cheat and stuff. And when their mate dies, they soon die too -- maybe of a broken heart?:brokenheart:

Well, anyways, are some humans like this? For example I've heard of some couples who have been married for a long time and then one of them dies. The other one dies shortly after.

Let's say these people exist. What would happen if one of them falls in love with someone who didn't return that love? Will these people go on through life alone? Will they just not be interested in finding another person because their heart is still with the one who rejected them? Do such people exist?

probably, although i wouldnt attribute anyone to dying of just a broken heart unless they committed suicide.

Possible. But I think in humans it is more cultural than it is biological.

That reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Grandpa's girlfriend dies. "Oh Jasper, they may say she died of a burst ventricle, but I know that she died of a broken heart."

just about the death thing..
Its not uncommon in elderly people for the both of them to die within a few weeks of eachother. This only occurs when they have been together for a considerable time. When one dies, the spouse will basicly "will them selves to death" for lack of a better explanation. Like dieing of a broken heart if you will.

You don't have to be a "certain type of person" capable of this love. You have to find the right person to fall in love with.

I'll like to know what animal this is.
