are there any fans with the magnetic berings that do rpm signaling? I really want to use them on heatsinks.

Yes, not very common though. Personally, I've never let lack of RPM signals stop me from using L1A's on heatsinks, though... it's not like there's much chance of one failing on its own. If you do want to be able to distinguish the one with the RPM, check page 2 of this PDF file and it looks like you want an FBA08A12L1BX (a hydrowave 80mm x 25.5mm 12-volt low-rpm fan with a three-wire lead and a 2-pulse-per-revolution tach output).

I was hunting at digikey myself, and they've got the 60mm and 92mm L1A's with RPM signalling (search digikey for 12L1BX) but not the 80mm :(

Aren't the only fans with magnetic bearings a particular line of sunons? The panaflos are liquid bearing.

So-trick Computers has M1As with three pins. Scroll down the page about 25%. He doesn't have many though.

I've never seen any three-pin L1As for sale. They must be really rare. Personally, I don't ming using non-rpm sensing fans on my heatsinks either. I just set the MoBo to shut down if the CPU goes over 60°C and then I don't worry about the fan.
