So there's a couple of streches (~10 miles each) of I-295 under construction. The speed limit is reduced from 65mph to 45mph.

I slow down to 70mph (25 over the limit, since 30+ over the limit = reckless driving if you're caught).

I'm in the middle lane, and a majority cars are passing me on both left and right sides.

Did I miss the memo? Are there *NO* cops in construction zones on I-295 in NJ?

Yea, I know the area you're talking about. I drive between Exit 47 and 57 all the time and it's crazy how no one, and I mean no one drives the posted limit of 50mph. (I don't know why it's 50mph there and 45mph between exit 32 and 26.) I do see the occasional unmarked police car during rush hour but I think most of them are state police muckity mucks on their way home.

Part of the problem is that there is nowhere to pull someone over in that stretch. Of course, just north of the construction area between exit 57 and 60, I see the staties out in full force.

During rush hour I just try to go with the flow and all other times I try to stay right around 60mph.

I did read today that one of the construction workers got hurt yesterday when a car ran off the road so maybe they will try clamping down some.

I don't know how people dick around in construction zones. Here it's double the fine if you're caught speeding in a construction zone... so 15 over would be like $500+

295 moving faster than 10 MPH? Shens. And yeah, I've also noticed that NJ drivers don't slow down for construction zones. Might have something to do with the sheer amount of highway that is constantly under construction. Not that that exuses it.
