Back in the early part of this decade, the Q3 demo was a very popular piece of software because people used the built in benchmark function. I loved the game however I do believe that its popularity was also helped because so many people downloaded the demo as use for a benchmark and ended up playing and getting hooked. I have always thought that this was perfect advertisment for a game.
As far as I know, all the benchmarks that AT runs as well as any other site uses are on the full retail games. Sure there is 3DMark which is free to download (but I nor a lot of other people consider it a very good benchmark). There is Sandra which I don't believe has any graphic benchmarks. Are these the only two benchmark programs now days or are there game demos used that have the built in benchmark funtions?
